What we do

One partner between the grower and your shop floor

We buy at the clock and directly from 340 growers, then handle everything that stands between a fresh stem and your customer: grading, packing, paperwork and temperature-controlled transport.

Daily sourcing

Our buyers stand at the clock every morning from 04:00. What you order before 14:00 is bought the next auction day and shipped the same night.

Export documentation

Phytosanitary certificates, EUR.1, CITES where required and customs pre-clearance for the UK, Norway, Switzerland and the Gulf.

Packing & private label

Bouquet lines, sleeving, barcoding and your own artwork. Retail-ready pallets built to your planogram, MSU or Danish trolley.

Programme planning

Fixed weekly volumes at agreed prices for supermarket and e-commerce programmes, planned up to twelve months ahead with our growers.

Logistics & cold chain

Sixty-two countries, one temperature

Flowers lose a day of vase life for every hour they spend warm. Our whole operation is built around never letting that happen — from the moment a trolley leaves the clock hall to the moment it rolls into your cooler.

2–5 °C, end to end

Pre-cooling cells at both hubs, conditioned loading docks and multi-temperature trailers. Every trailer logs temperature every five minutes; the file is attached to your invoice.

Own fleet of 41 trailers

Scheduled night runs to 18 European hubs. Our drivers are trained on flower handling, not general cargo — trolleys arrive standing, strapped and intact.

Daily airfreight

Consolidated departures from Schiphol to the Gulf, North America and East Asia, with a bonded handling agent on site and same-day AWB documentation.

What happens to your flowers between 04:00 and 21:00

Intake & inspection — 05:30

Every trolley is checked on stem length, bud stage, foliage damage and Botrytis risk. Rejected lots are re-bought the same morning.

Rehydration — 06:30

Stems are cut and placed in treated water with a post-harvest conditioner matched to the crop.

Packing hall — 09:00 to 16:00

Sleeving, bouquet assembly, barcoding and pallet building at 12 °C, which is cool enough for the product and workable for people.

Pre-cool & load — 17:00

Two hours in a 2 °C cell to pull field heat out of the core, then loading through a sealed dock straight into the trailer.

Services

Sourcing, packing and private label

Six thousand square metres of conditioned packing hall, 96 people on the floor in peak weeks, and a bouquet line that produces up to 34,000 finished pieces a day.

Clock buying

Four buyers on the Aalsmeer floor daily, plus access to Rijnsburg and Naaldwijk. We buy against your specification, not against the cheapest lot of the morning — bud stage and stem grade are written into every order line.

Direct grower contracts

340 contracted growers, 61% of them within 40 km of Aalsmeer. Fixed-volume programmes let us hold a price for a season and guarantee availability in weeks when the clock runs short.

Bouquet production

Hand-tied and machine-assisted lines, recipe-controlled, with photographic first-article approval per production run. Typical lead time for a new recipe is nine working days.

Private label & artwork

Your sleeve, your care label, your barcode. We hold artwork files, manage print runs with two Dutch printers and keep four weeks of packaging stock on site for you.

Retail programmes

Weekly volume plans, promotional peaks (Valentine's, Mother's Day, All Saints) planned from September, and a shrink report per store cluster if you share your sell-through data.

E-commerce fulfilment

Single-parcel picking for florist webshops, in your box, with a personalised card. Handover to PostNL and DHL twice daily, cut-off 15:30.

Indicative pricing

Service fees, plainly stated

Product is quoted per stem at clock price plus an agreed margin. Everything else is a service line you can switch on or off — no bundled surcharges hidden in the flower price.

Quality & certification

Vase life is a promise, not a hope

Our quality team of nine tests product every single trading day, and we publish the results to contract customers every month. If a batch fails, it does not leave the building.

Chain of custody across our contracted grower base.

ISO 9001:2015

Certified quality management, audited annually by DNV.

Vase-life test protocol

Twelve samples per major variety are pulled every week and kept in our test room at 20 °C, 60% RH, 12 hours of light — the conditions of an average living room, not a laboratory.

Growing beautifully, and honestly

Flowers are a luxury product with a real footprint. We publish ours, we are not proud of all of it, and we have committed to specific numbers by 2030 rather than a vague ambition.

−41%Scope 1 & 2 emissions vs. 2019
94%Packaging recyclable or reused
100%Rainwater-fed cooling at Aalsmeer
2030Target year for a climate-neutral fleet

Fleet

Fourteen of our 41 trailers now run on HVO100. Two electric tractors handle shuttle runs between Aalsmeer and Schiphol. The remaining diesel units are Euro 6 and replaced on a seven-year cycle.

Energy

6,200 solar panels on the packing hall roof cover 68% of annual consumption. Cooling recovers waste heat into the office block, which has had no gas connection since 2023.

Packaging

Paper sleeves as default since 2024, PET only where a retailer insists. All buckets and trolleys are pooled and returned; loss rate is under 3% per rotation.

Roadmap

What we have committed to

2019

Baseline year. First full carbon inventory across scope 1 and 2, verified by an external assessor.

2023

Gas-free offices. Heat pumps and heat recovery replace the last boiler. Solar array extended to 6,200 panels.

2025

Scope 3 measurement. Grower-level footprint data collected for 78% of purchase volume, published in our annual report.

2027

Airfreight transparency. Every quotation will state the transport emissions per stem, so buyers can weigh air against road honestly.

2030

Climate-neutral own operations. Full fleet on renewable fuel or electric, remaining emissions reduced rather than offset.

Annual sustainability report

Our 2025 report (PDF, 48 pages) covers emissions, water, crop protection, packaging and social auditing at grower level.

Since 1978

A family firm that never left Aalsmeer

Three generations, one village, and a stubborn belief that the person who buys your flowers should be able to tell you which greenhouse they came from.

Our story

From one van to 41 trailers

Willem Bloemveld bought his first lot at the Aalsmeer clock in March 1978 and drove it to a florist in Düsseldorf the same afternoon in a borrowed Volkswagen van. For eleven years the business was Willem, his wife Truus, and a growing list of German customers who liked that he answered the phone himself.

His daughter Marijke took over in 1996 and made the first real bet on cold chain — three conditioned trailers at a moment when most exporters still loaded flat-bed lorries with a tarpaulin. It cost the company a year of profit and won it the supermarket contracts that still form the backbone of the business.

Today Bloemveld employs 212 people, ships to 62 countries and is run by Marijke's daughter Sanne. The clock hall is a four-minute walk from the office, and someone from the family still stands in it every morning.

1978

Willem Bloemveld registers the company at the Kamer van Koophandel. First customer: Blumen Vogt, Düsseldorf.

1989

First packing hall on Turfstekerstraat, 900 m². Fourteen employees.

1996

Marijke Bloemveld takes over. Investment in three conditioned trailers.

2004

Airfreight desk opens at Schiphol. First shipments to Dubai and Tokyo.

2011

Rotterdam cold hub opens, adding sea-freight consolidation for potted plants.

2018

Bouquet line commissioned. First private-label programme for a Polish retail chain.

2022

Sanne Bloemveld appointed managing director. MPS-A+ achieved.

2026

212 employees, 62 export markets, 3.4 million stems a week.

How we work

Four things we do not compromise on

We name the grower

Every consignment note lists the nursery behind each line. If a customer asks where a stem came from, they get an address, not a region.

We quote what it costs

Clock price plus an agreed margin, service lines separately. No fuel surcharge that quietly becomes a profit centre.

We pick up the phone

Between 04:00 and 18:00 CET a human answers, in Dutch, English, German, French or Polish. Voicemail is for the night shift only.

We say no

If the clock is short and the only available quality is poor, we tell you and ship less. A weak week is easier to explain than dead flowers on your shelf.

Werken bij Bloemveld

Early mornings, good people, real product

212 colleagues from 19 nationalities. Free breakfast at 05:00 because someone has to be here when the clock starts, a pension through BPF Groothandel, and flowers to take home on Friday.

CAO Groothandel

Salaries per the collective agreement, plus 8% holiday allowance and a shift supplement.

25 holidays

Plus ADV days for operational roles and a genuinely quiet August.

Training budget

€ 1,200 a year, and Dutch lessons on company time for international colleagues.

Travel & bike

€ 0.23/km, a company bicycle scheme, and a shuttle from Hoofddorp station.

Order before 14:00 CET and we buy the following auction morning, ship that evening and deliver the day after. Standing weekly orders can be adjusted up to 16:00 the day before. For promotional peaks such as Valentine's Day and Mother's Day we ask for volume indications six weeks ahead.
New customers start with payment before dispatch or SEPA direct debit. After three months of trading we normally move to 14 days net, subject to a credit check through Atradius. Contract customers with a track record are on 30 days.
Yes — 24 of our 62 markets are outside the EU. No. We supply florists, wholesalers, retail chains and e-commerce companies only. If you are looking for flowers as a private buyer, any Dutch florist can order our product for you.
Dutch, English, German, French, Polish and Arabic across the commercial team. Correspondence and documentation are available in Dutch, English and German as standard.
Yes. We support Florecom EDI messages (ORDERS, DESADV, INVOIC) and offer a REST API for catalogue, availability and order status. Technical documentation is available on request from it@bloemveld.nl; a typical integration takes three to four weeks.

Who we are

Bloemveld International B.V., Turfstekerstraat 42, 1431 GD Aalsmeer, the Netherlands, registered with the Kamer van Koophandel under number 34128776, is the controller for the personal data described here.

What we collect

When you use a form on this website we process the name, company, email address, telephone number and the content of your message. When you order from us we additionally process billing and delivery details, VAT and EORI numbers and payment history. Our website logs an abbreviated IP address, browser type and pages visited for security and statistical purposes.

Why we process it

  • To answer your request and prepare a quotation (pre-contractual measures at your request).
  • To perform a contract: order handling, transport, invoicing and after-sales.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including tax retention and phytosanitary export records.
  • With your consent, to send you our weekly Clock Report newsletter.

How long we keep it

Quotation requests that do not lead to a contract are deleted after 24 months. Applications are deleted four weeks after the procedure closes, unless you allow us to keep them for a year. Financial records are kept for seven years as Dutch tax law requires.

Who else sees it

Transport partners, customs agents and the NVWA receive only the data needed to move and clear your consignment. Our hosting and mail providers are established within the European Union and act as processors under a data-processing agreement. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for profiling.

Your rights

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Write to privacy@bloemveld.nl. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens in The Hague.

Cookies

We place functional cookies that are necessary for the site to work, and — only after you accept them — analytical cookies that tell us which pages are read. No advertising or tracking cookies are used on this website.

Terms & conditions

General terms of sale and delivery, version 4.2, in force from 1 January 2026

1. Applicability

These conditions apply to every offer, order and agreement between Bloemveld International B.V. and its buyers. In addition, the Handelsvoorwaarden of the Vereniging van Groothandelaren in Bloemkwekerijprodukten (VGB) apply; where the two conflict, these conditions prevail. Buyer's own purchasing conditions are expressly rejected.

2. Offers and prices

All offers are without obligation and based on the auction price at the moment of purchase. Because clock prices move daily, quoted prices are indicative unless a fixed-price programme has been agreed in writing. Prices are exclusive of VAT, packaging, transport and any statutory levies.

3. Delivery

Delivery terms are indicative and are agreed per consignment under Incoterms 2020. Exceeding a delivery term does not entitle the buyer to compensation or dissolution unless the delay exceeds 48 hours and is attributable to us.

4. Complaints

Visible defects must be reported within 24 hours of delivery, accompanied by photographs of the unopened trolley or box and the consignment reference. Later complaints cannot be assessed, since the condition of a perishable product cannot be established retroactively.

5. Payment

Unless agreed otherwise, invoices are payable within 14 days. After the due date statutory commercial interest under article 6:119a of the Dutch Civil Code is due, together with extrajudicial collection costs of 15% with a minimum of € 150.

6. Retention of title

All delivered goods remain our property until every claim arising from the trading relationship has been paid in full.

7. Liability

Our liability is limited to the invoice value of the consignment concerned, and in any event to the amount paid out by our liability insurer. We are never liable for consequential loss, loss of profit or loss of turnover.

8. Applicable law

Dutch law applies. Disputes are submitted exclusively to the competent court in Amsterdam, unless mandatory law provides otherwise. The Vienna Sales Convention is excluded.

Thank you

We have received your message.
